 I passed the 66!Sep 26, 2010

I failed the 66 twice in spite of passing the Series 7 on my first try. I was very discouraged so I tried "Pass the 66." After studying with it for about 3 weeks, I passed the test with an 80. It explained the concepts on the test so that I could understand them. I highly recommend it.

I got this book after reading "Pass the 7" and have to say that it is done very well. I took the Series 66 on Friday and passed with a 91%! As a disclosure, I graduate Saturday with a degree in Financial Services, so the half of the test that did not surround laws and regs I was already familiar with. BUT, I had no exposure to the laws and regs part of the exam prior to this book. On the exam I scored an 86% on that portion. Regardless, it covers some similar material as the "Pass the 7" book, but the tests also cover some of the same material. I would highly recommend this book to someone taking the 66. The way that it is written is superb. It is easy to comprehend and much more readable than a standard textbook. The author does an excellent job spelling out the laws and regs and making them make sense.

Worked great. Helped raise my score in one section over 20 points. Passed the test the second time due to the fact that I used this book to study with instead of the other book I had. This one was much clearer and I felt the sample questions and practice tests were closer to what was on the actual exam.

The entire book is a fast read and as entertaining as any test training manual can ever be, 2 days about 3 hours each and you'll finish it. The overview of the investment vehicles and strategies are excellent and covers more than you need to know.
However it's coverage of the Uniform Securities Act which accounts for a good 1/3 of the exam is a bit lacking. Many actual test questions test you on what the state administrator can and cannot do (ex perform surprise audits, cease and desist orders, revokations, etc) and this book a bit lacking in covering that material. I'd recommend that everyone take a read at the actual Uniform Securities Act (about 200 pages, not fun to read at all) but the Series 66 exam is a test on the state blue sky laws in addition to investment advice/ethics so memorizing a few extra details beyond what this book covers could be the difference between a pass or fail.
The two sample tests were written more to test your knowledge of the subject matter than be an actual reflection of the real test. I'd recommend that everyone go on investopedia.com's quizzer where they have about 250 sample questions which was very helpful and was free. For someone who is a novice to the industry and investing, I'd say this book is not enough to pass the test alone...you should accompany this with the online lectures and courses and more sample tests that the author offers. But for the veterans whose license may have expired or previously pass the 7 and 63, this is enough to brush up and take the test and pass. I passed with an 80, and almost all questions I missed were on the Uniform Securities Act's specific details.

Great book. Easy to comprehend and has great examples. I highly recommend purchasing this book if you plan on taking the 66.
