I've been buying this book for years, no other nursing drug books were organized by class, this book was unique and very helpful for this reason. With this year's edition it has become like all the rest - it's really too bad that the publisher didn't understand the value the unique way it was organized. I have no reason to choose this handbook now.

I have selected the "Nursing Handbooks" from Springhouse/Lippincot since the 1970's. I found the organizational style of grouping by catagory of drugs; exanple: antibiotics, cardiovascular etc. the most helpful.. If I wanted to find a specific drug I looked in the index. One year I bought another drug book by another company & ended by going back to the above listed type of book. I find the 2012 book VERY tiresome! If I want to make comparisons between drugs in the same catagory, it takes me forever! Plus, I may not know the generic name of a drug I want to lookup. I won't be buying anymore of this series if they continue with this format & I had been buying one each year. I've been a nurse since 1974 ^ this is the most frustrating book to use I've ever encountered.

As a healthcare worker who works in a hospital, I see this book (and its various editions) on just about every floor- whether it be the cardiac floor, neurology floor, or the orthopedic floor. The point is that the scope of this book is so large and complete, that it will be a handy reference to everybody who treats patients, no matter what the diagnosis. So if you're looking for a small, complete drug reference- this is your book. Also recommend "The Sixty-Second Motivator" for tips on how to increase patient compliancy with taking meds.

I am a nurse and purchase a new drug hand book about every 2 years. The Nursing Drug Handbook has been my favorite for years. This year it is a little different and the outside of the book is slick instead of textured and some of the format inside is different. I like the older style much better but the book is excellent all the same.

Nursing 2012 comes through once again! I've been a RN in many different capacities and always have turned to the Nursing Drug Hand Book in the current year I'm in. I now work in the home health field and always carry this book with me, with constantly changing medications and poly prescriptions patients are on, this book is invaluable. It's clear information is very helpful especially in the home situation, it explains clearly to patients and family exactly what they need to know. Of course this book is perfect in any situation, I might also add I have purchased many different nursing handbooks and always found The Nursing Drug Hand Book the most accurate and direct.Nursing2012 Drug Handbook with Online Toolkit (Nursing Drug Handbook)
