I recently passed my NCLEX exam, and i owe it all to this book. I bought several other NCLEX review books to study for my exam, but this one was really all i needed. About 90% of the information that was on the NCLEX is covered in this book, not only are there test taking stragies but theres a content area and several practice quizzes along with a practice exam in the book and on the CD. You have to really study the book though, make sure you know everything it tells you to know, and the book isn't too big so you could get through in probally less than 3 weeks. Trust me, this is the ONLY book you will need to pass your NCLEX, i would suggest Kaplan to any one! And the other great thing about this book is the price, you don't have to fork over $500 for the Kaplan class, just buy the book and you will pass the NCLEX for sure.

My school uses the Kaplan tests each semester and we have to pass a Kaplan predictive test to graduate. I bought this book to help me prepare for my exit test which I passed with flying colors! Then I paid $500 for the Kaplan 4 day class. The class had the same exact info that is in this book. If you prefer to self study in the comfort of your own home and save money then get this book.

This book is great for helping you prep for nclex style exams! It is very expensive if you don't buy it on Amazon! Comes with many good features like a passing gaurentee (or your money back), CD for online review, and even a free online class.

Most NCLEX review book all have a different structure in the way they are put together, but generally contain the same information, some more, some less. In general, they all have some kind of intro on why this book will help you pass NCLEX and then goes into hundreds and hundreds maybe thousands of pages of reviewing everything you learned in nursing school. Than typically they finish off with alot of practice questions, and full length exams. Now that may work, and probably is the best way to go about studying for this thing.
Well, this book is not like that. Not in a bad way, but it takes a different approach. Similarities with any NCLEX book you've seen include: a bunch of practice questions and a couple full length practice exams. Other than that, this book is about 200 to 300 pages worth of Strategies on how to tackle the NCLEX. Most review books go over the content of what the test will contain. This book does not go over content you learned in nursing school that much, but talks about the NCLEX itself. It is literally a book on "how to answer NCLEX questions" not a content review book. It goes alot into the breakdown of what kinds of questions, how they are much different from nursing school questions, how the computer test progresses in terms of how many and the difficulty level of questions it gives you, and how to prepare to pass. With NCLEX, every answer is relatively the same length, and they are application or analysis type questions not a black and white question like "Which is a side effect of Haldol". This book does not dwell on nursing school content, but NCLEX strategies. Its only a review in terms of answering questions than reading the rationale. Thats the bulk of the review content if thats what you are looking for. If you want a review book, Saunders is top notch along with Princeton. But this book takes an interesting approach to studying.

This NCLEX-RN book was really great because the questions are complex enough to make you think "NCLEX-y". I practiced about 600 Kaplan questions from this book and from the sample questions online and the CD. The questions cover all areas of nursing and the rationales are very good, especially for the practice test. The only problem I had had nothing to do with Kaplan. When I took the NCLEX, even though it was difficult, I thought the complexity of the questions were nothing like Kaplan. Kaplan questions provide scenario-like background information, whereas NCLEX questions are often only one sentence long! But this is not Kaplan's fault and I think the book is great for practicing your nursing knowledge. I passed the NCLEX-RN with 76 questions, but I also used the Saunders CD and did some of the Hurst Review. Based on my preparation, I would just tell people to buy a Kaplan book like this one and use the Saunders CD.
